Fantasy Premier League. Gameweek 7 Preview

Wolves vs Crystal Palace

Score Prediction: 1-0
Wolves seem to compromise on attacking flair with their defensively sound 5-3-2 formation. Nuno Espirito Santo sets up his Portuguese-influenced team to keep clean sheets first and foremost, often relying on the excellence of striker Raul Jimenez to provide in the final third. Crystal Palace will avoid relegation through picking up points against the lesser opposition, rarely challenging quality opposition like Wolves away from home.

FPL Tips: Having interviewed Max Kilman (4.2M) on Tuesday, the former international futsal player is confident of maintaining his place in the team. The English defender has started the last three matches, amassing 23 points.

Sheffield United vs Man City

Score Prediction: 1-2
Sheffield United’s solid defence keeps them in games, but their lack of goals prevents them from kicking on and getting results. As for Man City, they look like a tribute act of their former selves at the moment. There have been signs of Guardiola’s free-flowing attacking football, but it hasn’t quite clicked for them yet this season. Nevertheless, City don’t need to be at their best to beat a struggling Sheffield United.

FPL Tips: Phil Foden (6.6M) is beginning to realise his potential under Pep Guardiola’s tutelage with three goal contributions in six games to kickstart an important season for the midfielder.

Burnley vs Chelsea

Score Prediction: 0-2
Burnley troubled Spurs on Monday and were unlucky not to come away with a point. Sean Dyches’s side are better than what they have shown so far and this could be a dangerous game for Chelsea. The Blues have turned a corner though, with three consecutive clean sheets in all competitions, which could be the start of a fruitful run of fixtures.

FPL Tips: Edouard Mendy (5.0M) has conceded one goal in five matches for Chelsea since he joined. The goalkeeper situation has finally been resolved, to Frank Lampard’s delight.

Liverpool vs West Ham

Score Prediction: 2-2
Liverpool’s defence is in shatters with injuries to Virgil Van Dijk, Fabinho and Joel Matip. However, as long as the front line is intact, they have a shot at winning every game. West Ham have performed well against the top teams this season with in-form Michail Antonio up top.

FPL Tips: Diogo Jota (6.3M) has played more than expected this season and done relatively well when called upon. He could be an interesting differential pick going forward.

Aston Villa vs Southampton

Score Prediction: 1-1
Aston Villa enjoyed an excellent start to the season but may have been exposed as overachievers against Leeds last weekend. Villa have enough quality to reach mid-table but were never going to maintain a European push. Southampton were excellent against Everton so this could make for a highly entertaining match.

FPL Tips: Che Adams (5.8M) has finally joined teammate Danny Ings (8.5M) at the Saints’ goalscoring party and at such a lower price than his teammate he could well be worth a punt.

Newcastle vs Everton

Score Prediction: 1-1
Newcastle are by far not the best watch in the Premier League but Steve Bruce has his team grinding out unexpected results. Everton are without several key men which will hurt their chances of returning to winning ways.

FPL Tips: Callum Wilson (6.5M) is one of many cheap forward options this year. The ex-Bournemouth striker has been directly involved in six of Newcastle’s eight goals.

Man United vs Arsenal

Score Prediction: 1-1
Man United will be full of confidence after a pair of excellent wins in Europe where often-criticised manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got his tactics spot on. The issue here will be breaking down an Arsenal team that sits back and looks to counter. Arsenal are on a terrible run of winless matches away from home against ‘top six’ teams and I expect Mikel Arteta to settle for a point at Old Trafford.

FPL Tips: Marcus Rashford (9.5M) was the star in Man United’s Champions League victories and is currently owned by just 7.6% of players.

Spurs vs Burnley

Score Prediction: 3-1
Spurs aren’t a complete team but they have an unbelievable pair of attackers in Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son that are carrying them to victory of late. Brighton seem to play well in most games but need to be more clinical to pick up the points they deserve.

FPL Tips: Heung-Min Son (9.5M) is only favoured over Harry Kane (10.9M) because of his cheaper price tag as they both put up similar stats.

Fulham vs West Brom

Score Prediction: 0-1
Two of the newly promoted teams face off in what could be described as a six-pointer even at this early stage. Both teams remain winless but West Brom have been able to collect three draws, making them my favourites to edge a close encounter.

FPL Tips: Sam Johnstone (4.5M) is a decent goalkeeper option, not for his chances at regular clean sheets, but for saves and bonus points.

Leeds vs Leicester

Score Prediction: 2-2
Leeds tore apart an Aston Villa team that had previously been unbeaten, showcasing their class under Marcelo Bielsa’s reign. Similarly, Brendan Rodger’s game plan against Arsenal also paid off perfectly. This will be an intriguing tactical matchup between two of the best managers in the league.

FPL Tips: Jamie Vardy (10.0M) has shown no signs of slowing down despite his age, scoring the decisive goal against Arsenal.

This Week’s Top Tip: Heung-Min Son

Form = 14.0, GW6 = 11pts, Total = 69pts, Price = £9.5, TSB = 56.6%

Heung-Min Son was my top tip two weeks ago and it paid off with a goal and an assist. The South Korean star is capitalising on Harry Kane’s transition into a more creative role, forming a deadly partnership that is only bettered by Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard in the league’s history.
